Deptford Green is a thriving multi-ethnic inner city school. It is oversubscribed and has just completed a £5 million building programme. It received 'good value for money' in its Ofsted report and featured in the Government video 'Excellence in Schools'. Deptford Green is also a specialist 'citizenship' school. Some 57 languages are spoken as a first language. The school has recently been given an achievement award for substantial improvement in results achieved by pupils. It is situated within an Education Action Zone.

Over the past several years, Deptford Green has encouraged artists to work with pupils in the school. Sculptor Margaret Higginson has worked in the school on two projects, one of which culminated in a large, multi-coloured perspex sculpture erected in the school pond.
about Terry Wood
Terry Wood, Head of Art, has worked at Deptford Green for thirteen years and in London schools for twenty five years. He paints and exhibits regularly in galleries throughout the U.K. and has considerable experience in working with computers and the Internet, both in his personal work and within the classroom. He is interested in multicultural approaches to teaching art together with a strong belief in the value and use of ICT as a tool for creativity.
