Karen Eslea developed a project which looked at the types of subtle manipulations that can be made with computer programmes such as Photoshop and Paintshop Pro. She worked with Russell Thorpe at Lister Community School to plan a series of sessions which would encourage the students to think about their environment and how they might want to change it.

The students took a walk along London's South Bank for inspiration, snapping photographs of the skateboarders, the London Eye and St. Paul's Cathedral as research material. They also used a digital camera and a digital microscope camera to photograph themselves, objects and interior environments that might quietly find their way into a new, imaginary vista.

Magazines and books featuring architecture and landscapes from around the world were also employed. Their resulting work exists both as digital photographs saved to disc, for emailing and websites, as well as high-quality, digital prints which they generated at their Forest Gate City Learning Centre in Newham.
