Meera Chauda worked with the theme of identity to plan and implement the All About Me project with Elsbeth Law at Forest Hill School.
After a visit to the Tate Modern's Century City exhibition, showing art across the century in cities around the world, students were asked to generate an archive of ideas, objects and imagery which related to themselves. Everyone, including the Art teachers, made an in-class presentation on themselves based on a variety of cherished objects brought from home. The students used their sketchbooks to present documentation, in the form of writing, collage and photography (Polaroid, prints from negatives and digital snaps). They played with colour, scale and a variety of paper to create flat artwork that was scanned and re-scanned until a final, digital A4-size image was produced to their satisfaction. Meera then visited a local copy shop with the students, where their A4 images were enlarged to an A0-size multi-print scale. The students mounted their final poster-sized images onto card for framing and exhibition within the City Learning Centre at their school.
